Almunia Says 'Fresh News' Coming Soon On Libor Probe

Law360, New York (November 21, 2013, 6:56 PM EST) -- The European Commission's investigation into whether several major banks manipulated two key interbank offered rates used as lending benchmarks is close to yielding results, the watchdog's antitrust chief said Thursday.

Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia provided a brief update on the EC's probes into possible collusion among the banks that set the London Interbank Offered Rate, as well as the similar Euribor rate, in a speech Thursday.

"These investigations are advanced, and I will soon be able to give fresh news in relation to them," Almunia said....
