Illegal Anti-GMO Labeling Campaign Grew, Wash. AG Says

Law360, New York (November 21, 2013, 8:28 PM EST) -- In its campaign to defeat a measure aiming to require the labeling of genetically modified food, the Grocery Manufacturers Association spent funding illegally collected from companies even after it had been sued over the practice, Washington's attorney general claimed Wednesday.

In an amended complaint in state court, Attorney General Bob Ferguson accused the food and beverage industry group of collecting $10.6 million from its member companies in violation of Washington campaign finance law.
