China Can Join TPP If It Meets Standards, US Official Says

Law360, New York (November 21, 2013, 2:15 PM EST) -- National Security Adviser Susan Rice said Wednesday that China and other countries will be welcome to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership in the future, so long as they commit to meeting the high standards that will be laid out in the now-proposed trade agreement.

Speaking at Georgetown University about the future of the American relationship with Asia, Rice outlined U.S. plans to cooperate with the Asia-Pacific region on several fronts, including trade and economic issues, security, and promoting democratic values and human rights.
