Feds Put Rural Power Plant Loans On Hiatus

Law360, New York (March 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A branch of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is, for the moment, no longer handing out loans for new base load generation plants in rural areas, which could mean the end of an environmental lawsuit against the government.

Keith M. Williams, the USDA press secretary, said Thursday that the Rural Utilities Service is “not authorized to make any loans at this time.”
