Nigeria Bars Dutch Company Over Faulty Fuel

Law360, New York (March 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Nigeria has reportedly barred a Dutch oil company from providing fuel to the country, saying that the company imported tainted gasoline that is believed to have damaged hundreds of vehicles.

Gunvor International BV will no longer be able to import fuel to Nigeria after shipping an estimated 33,000 metric tons of petrol that contained a problematic 20% ethanol, Agence France-Presse reported Wednesday.

"We don't expect more than 5% ethanol content because vehicles in Nigeria are very sensitive to ethanol and cannot handle more than 10% ethanol,"...
