Jersey Minister Wants Married Citizens Taxed As Individuals

Law360, New York (November 26, 2013, 3:23 PM EST) -- The island of Jersey's treasury and resources minister will introduce a taxation scheme that taxes citizens as individuals regardless of marital status, in an effort to treat Jersey's citizens equally, he said Tuesday.

Minister Senator Philip Ozouf said he believed independent taxation would be important in modernizing Jersey's tax system, and that the scheme would implement powerful policy changes on the island.
