IRS Pitches Stronger 501(c)(4) Political Activity Rules

Law360, New York (November 26, 2013, 5:04 PM EST) -- Tax-exempt social welfare organizations that engage in political activity may not be able to keep their 501(c)(4) status under proposed guidance the federal government released Tuesday, which says political activity conducted on behalf of specific political candidates won't count as a social welfare-related activity.
