Power Co. Dodges Fla. Contractor's Suit Over Hurricane Repair

Law360, Miami (December 2, 2013, 7:49 PM EST) -- A Florida federal judge on Monday dismissed a Michigan power line company's suit claiming that OnPower Inc. has failed to pay millions of dollars due under a contract to help restore power lines after Hurricanes Isaac and Sandy in 2012.

U.S. District Judge John E. Steele dismissed United Power Line Contractors LLC's suit, saying that UPL and its owner, Ryan Farris, had pled only that they reside in Michigan, but had not sufficiently alleged diversity of citizenship to warrant federal subject matter jurisdiction.
