GSK Probe Prompts U.K. To Boost Drug Oversight

Law360, New York (March 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The United Kingdom is reportedly set to bolster its laws governing the oversight of pharmaceutical companies in the wake of an investigation into GlaxoSmithKline Plc's alleged delay in disclosing evidence that its blockbuster antidepressant Paxil increases the likelihood of suicide among teenagers.

The U.K.'s public health minister, Dawn Primarolo, said new legislation will be introduced by the end of the year to ensure that drug companies pass on the results of clinical trials as soon as concerns are raised about their medicines, the Guardian reported Thursday....
