Glass Ceiling Still Walls In Top Women, EU Says

Law360, New York (March 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- They may have gained a few more rungs on the ladder recently, but women in Europe still are shut out of many top positions in business and politics, a new report from the European Union has found.

Released Thursday, the EU's report notes that 24% percent of parliamentarians across the European Union are women, up from 16% a decade ago, and that a similar proportion hold ministerial office.

But in the private sector, men still account for nine out of 10 board members in major companies...
