OCC Must Fix Lag In Tackling Bank Risks, Report Says

Law360, New York (December 5, 2013, 4:03 PM EST) -- Big changes could be coming to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency after a review by international regulators found there was often a “material lag” between when examiners identified emerging risks and when the agency addressed them in new guidance.

Although the report, commissioned by Comptroller Thomas Curry, found the OCC was committed to maintaining the safety and soundness of the financial institutions its regulates, it identified key areas where improvement was necessary, in particular with the supervision of mid-sized and large national banks....
