EU Touts Progress In Tax Evasion Fight

Law360, New York (December 5, 2013, 1:38 PM EST) -- The European Commission announced Thursday that member states had made remarkable progress in pursuing individual and corporate tax dodgers in 2013, citing expansion of automatic taxpayer information exchanges and the tightening of rules against aggressive corporate tax planning.

The push to tamp down on tax evasion began in December 2012, when the European Union kick-started an action plan with specific policies targeting tax dodgers, with the EC requiring all member nations to work in concert to stop the widespread practice.
