FDA Warns Internet Sellers Of Unapproved STD Drugs

Law360, New York (March 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has sent warning letters to seven Internet-based companies that sell and import unapproved and misbranded drugs to customers in the United States for the treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.

The letters, sent Wednesday, instruct the companies to resolve the FDA’s issues within 15 days or face further enforcement actions, such as seizure of illegal products and criminal prosecution. The FDA also instructed anyone using these products to stop immediately.
