Bill To Allow Cameras In Federal Courts Progresses

Law360, New York (March 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A U.S. Senate panel signed off on bill Thursday that would give federal judges the power to allow television cameras into their courtrooms. The measure will now proceed to the Senate floor.

The bill, titled the Sunshine in the Courtroom Act (S. 352), would authorize judges to allow electronic media coverage of federal court proceedings, permitting journalists to photograph, record, broadcast or televise what goes on in the courtroom except when it would violate a party's due process rights.
