House Panel Could Soon OK Medicare Doc Pay Overhaul

Law360, New York (December 5, 2013, 6:47 PM EST) -- House Republican leadership on Thursday signaled that legislation permanently replacing Medicare’s deeply unpopular physician payment formula could emerge from committee before Congress adjourns next week, though for the moment another short-term “doc fix” appears certain to pass.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., released a statement claiming “real progress” on a bipartisan and bicameral bill to scrap Medicare’s so-called sustainable growth rate and saying that the panel could vote on a bill before Dec. 13.
