Detroit Doctors, Nurses Charged Over $34M Medicare Fraud

Law360, New York (December 5, 2013, 6:35 PM EST) -- Close to two dozen Detroit-area residents have been charged for their alleged roles in $34 million in Medicare fraud schemes in which they are accused of submitting fraudulent claims for home health care, chiropractic and psychotherapy services that were not provided, prosecutors said Thursday.

Some 20 people, including medical doctors, nurses and home health care agency owners, were hit in five separate indictments over similar schemes to fraudulently bill Medicare for services that were either never provided or were medically unnecessary, according to a statement Thursday...
