Carlyle's Galaxy Scoops Up Linens 'N Things Brand

Law360, New York (December 10, 2013, 3:52 PM EST) -- Carlyle Group LP-owned Galaxy Brand Holdings will buy the once-prominent Linens ‘n Things brand from private equity firms Gordon Brothers Group, Hilco Global and Infinity Lifestyle Brands and seek to revitalize the name, the companies said Monday.

The three sellers acquired Linens 'n Things in a joint venture in February 2009, after the home goods-retailer filed for bankruptcy in 2008. They subsequently got rid of the company's 571 physical stores, relaunching the brand as an entirely online retailer. Galaxy will pay an as-of-yet undisclosed amount for the intellectual property assets of Linens ‘N Things.
