EPA Reports Show Mismanagement Of Agency's CIA Impostor

Law360, New York (December 12, 2013, 5:50 PM EST) -- U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., released two reports Thursday from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Inspector General highlighting the EPA's mismanagement in allowing a former senior employee to steal nearly $900,000 in government funds while posing as a Central Intelligence Agency agent.

The reports are the result of an EPA internal investigation of its policies that potentially enabled the former deputy assistant administrator John C. Beale's fraud, including his prolonged absences and claims that he worked on a Central Intelligence Agency task force. The...
