Employers That Go On Firing Spree Face Legal Woes

Law360, New York (March 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- When employers are struggling to stay grounded in a shaky economy, sometimes they rush to reduce their work force without realizing that they are putting themselves at risk for unlawful termination and discrimination lawsuits.

Employment law experts are cautioning companies to look before they leap, especially in light of the U.S. Department of Labor’s statistics that businesses slashed 63,000 jobs last month – the biggest reduction in five years and another sign that the economy may not be easing up anytime soon.
