Pa. Lawmaker Wants Local Control Over Minimum Wage

Law360, Philadelphia (December 13, 2013, 3:35 PM EST) -- A Democrat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives said Thursday that he planned to introduce legislation that would end a statutory ban preventing local governments in the state from setting minimum wage rates.

The announcement from Rep. Mark Cohen, D-Philadelphia, comes after Gov. Tom Corbett told reporters during an editorial board meeting of the Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre that he would not support efforts by the state's General Assembly to raise the minimum wage from its current level of $7.25 per hour.
