ScottishPower Ditches 1,800-MW Offshore Wind Farm Plans

Law360, New York (December 13, 2013, 4:17 PM EST) -- ScottishPower Renewables announced Friday it has abandoned plans to develop the 1,800-megawatt Argyll Array offshore wind farm due to adverse ground and wave conditions and the presence of protected sharks.

The power company, which is owned by Spain's Iberdrola SA, has been working on the project since 2009. Through a series of technical and environmental studies, ScottishPower became aware that the wind farm cannot move forward with the project in the next decade, according to a release.
