Ex-UBS Banker Accused Of Tax Fraud Freed On $9M Bond

Law360, New York (December 16, 2013, 6:28 PM EST) -- A Florida federal judge on Monday ordered a former UBS AG banking executive accused of helping clients avoid U.S. taxes free on $9 million bond.

Raul Weil, 54, was arrested in Italy earlier this month and extradited to the U.S. to face tax fraud charges stemming from a 2008 indictment. He and  other UBS employees are accused of promoting offshore tax shelters for about 20,000 U.S. citizens with assets totaling approximately $20 billion.
