Jury Convicts Ex-BP Engineer Of Obstructing BP Spill Probe

Law360, New York (December 18, 2013, 5:46 PM EST) -- A former BP PLC engineer was convicted Wednesday by a Louisiana federal jury of deleting text message evidence from his iPhone to thwart a grand jury investigation into the company’s response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

The first individual charged over the April 2010 rig explosion and oil spill, Kurt Mix was found guilty on one count of obstruction of justice for allegedly scrubbing a string of text messages sent between himself and a supervisor in the aftermath of the blowout.
