Ex-Firefighter's Title VII Retaliation Win Withstands Challenge

Law360, New York (December 18, 2013, 4:21 PM EST) -- A Maryland federal court rejected a post-trial challenge Tuesday to a female former firefighter's win on a Title VII retaliation claim, despite defendant Prince George's County's argument that a jury instruction in the case ran afoul of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent Nassar decision. 

U.S. District Judge Alexander Williams Jr. shot down a motion from the county for judgment as a matter of law that argued there was no legally sufficient basis for the jury to find in favor of Phyllis Westmoreland on her retaliation claim....
