Pols Want Tax Credit Extension For Long-Term Jobless

Law360, New York (December 18, 2013, 2:21 PM EST) -- A bipartisan group of lawmakers released legislation Tuesday to extend the work opportunity tax credit to companies who hire long-term unemployed individuals.

If passed, the Long-Term Unemployed Hiring Incentive Act will give companies up to $2,400 in tax credits for each long-term unemployed individual they hire. The proposed legislation comes as over 1 million Americans are set to lose their extended unemployment benefits at the end of the month, according to bill co-sponsor Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.J.
