FDA Reappoints Former Chief Of Drug Safety Center

Law360, New York (March 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has officially reappointed Dr. Janet Woodcock as director of the agency's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, which is tasked with ensuring the safety of the nation's drugs.

Woodcock has been the center's acting director since October in addition to serving as the agency's deputy commissioner and chief medical officer, overseeing scientific and regulatory operations.

This is her second appointment as CDER director; before being named FDA deputy commissioner in 2005, she headed the center for nearly a decade....
