Jardine Lloyd Thompson Unit Fined £1.8M Over Bribery Risks

Law360, New York (December 19, 2013, 2:19 PM EST) -- British insurance broker Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC's unit must pay a £1.8 million ($2.9 million) fine to British authorities for allegedly failing to properly review overseas partners who helped it obtain business in foreign countries to ensure they do not bribe potential clients or public officials.

JLT Specialty Ltd. said it agreed to the fine by U.K.'s Financial Conduct Authority, which had found that JLT Specialty did not sufficiently manage the risks from those overseas payments between February 2009 and May 2012, according to statements...
