China To Overhaul Energy Management Departments

Law360, New York (March 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- As part of its long-awaited government restructuring, China will establish a high-level energy policy and management coordinating committee called the National Energy Commission and a new Energy Bureau to administer companies in the sector, a top government official announced Tuesday.

The National Energy Commission and new Energy Bureau will replace the country's current Energy Office and Energy Bureau, as well as several other small departments under various other arms of Chinese bureaucracy – including ones dedicated to managing nuclear energy.
