Colo. Lawmakers Plan Tax Credit Bill To Offset ACA Penalty

Law360, New York (December 19, 2013, 2:04 PM EST) -- Two Colorado lawmakers announced Thursday their plan to introduce a bill that would create a state tax deduction to offset the federal penalty for not purchasing health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, effectively allowing state residents to opt out of the federal law.

State representatives Dan Nordberg, R-Colorado Springs, and Jared Wright, R-Fruita, said they will introduce the Healthcare Liberty Act when the 2014 legislative session convenes in January 2014, and the bill will have a deduction in an amount equal to the federal penalty....
