House Bill Would Expand Deductions For Health Premiums

Law360, New York (December 20, 2013, 3:51 PM EST) -- A bill introduced Thursday in the U.S. House of Representatives would allow individuals enrolling in the new health insurance marketplace created through the Affordable Care Act to deduct the amount of their health insurance premiums.

The proposed legislation is intended to provide individuals that would not be able deduct their premiums under current U.S. tax laws an incentive to enroll in the new health care exchange, the bill's primary sponsor Chaka Fattah, D-Pa., said.
