Merck Recalls Gardasil Over Glass Particles In Vials

Law360, New York (December 20, 2013, 3:11 PM EST) -- Merck & Co. Inc. on Friday recalled one lot of Gardasil, a vaccine that protects against a virus that causes cervical cancer, because the products may contain glass particles.

If a patient has received a vaccine containing glass, he or she may experience a mild reaction near the injection site, such as redness or swelling. A “limited number” of the vials in the lot may contain the particles, according to Merck, which voluntarily issued the recall.
