IRS Updates Rules For Tax Exemption Reinstatements

Law360, New York (January 2, 2014, 5:40 PM EST) -- Tax-exempt organizations whose tax-exempt status is revoked for a failure to file tax returns may find it easier to apply for a status reinstatement after the Internal Revenue Service issued a revenue procedure Thursday that updates and partially streamlines its procedures.

Prior rules required affected organizations to file a reinstatement application and submit a multipart written request that included a listing of safeguards meant to prevent future filing failures.
