Pa. Gov. Urges Drillers To Abide By Axed Fracking Rules

Law360, Philadelphia (January 6, 2014, 5:35 PM EST) -- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett urged oil and gas operators on Monday to continue voluntarily adhering to key zoning provisions that were invalidated as part of a landmark December decision by the state Supreme Court striking down portions of a sweeping legislative scheme regulating the industry.

Corbett said that the Supreme Court’s 4-2 decision jeopardized Pennsylvania’s environment by axing, in part, portions of state regulations known as Act 13 dictating the distance that must be maintained between bodies of water and any oil or gas wellbores....
