Colo. Outlines Marijuana Sales Tax Requirements

Law360, New York (January 7, 2014, 1:54 PM EST) -- Colorado's Department of Revenue released a short memo Tuesday outlining the sales tax rates and tax filing requirements that are applicable to marijuana sales in the state, months after voters approved a tax on recreational marijuana.

Medical and retail marijuana are both subject to Colorado's 2.9 percent state sales tax and any local sales taxes, but retail marijuana is subject to an additional 10 percent state sales tax, according to the memo.
