IRS Accused Of Wrongly Targeting Former Pitt-De Moines Boss

Law360, Washington (January 8, 2014, 2:53 PM EST) -- The estate of former Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Co. President William R. Jackson is fighting an Internal Revenue Service notice claiming as fraudulent an alleged $12 million payment the company made to Jackson shortly before its 2002 merger with Ironbridge Corp., according to a petition filed with the U.S. Tax Court last month.

PDM/Ironbridge owes the IRS $23 million in deficiencies and penalties, and the commission is now wrongly trying to place Jackson's estate on the hook for $11.965 million of that liability, the estate said in...
