NY Lawyer Group Says Another Lean Year Will Damage Courts

Law360, New York (January 8, 2014, 12:05 PM EST) -- New York's deeply underfunded state and federal courts have been struggling to get by but another year of funding stasis or cuts would see public safety concerns, delays and infrastructure deterioration accelerate to crisis levels, a lawyer group says in a report issued Tuesday.

The New York County Lawyers' Association study comes at a crucial time for for state and federal funding. State leaders were ramping up budget proposals this week and, in Washington, Congress had set a Jan. 15 target date complete the appropriations process...
