Total Sinks Billions Into Energy Projects In Congo, Russia

Law360, New York (January 8, 2014, 4:31 PM EST) -- French petroleum giant Total SA has undertaken three significant multibillion-dollar transactions in December that bolster several energy projects in Africa, Russia and Oceania, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Total had announced in late December that Qatar Petroleum International had made a $1.6 billion investment in Total E&P Congo — Total’s exploration and production unit in the Republic of Congo — in exchange for a 15 percent stake.
