IRS Budget Cuts Crippling Taxpayer Services, Advocate Says

Law360, New York (January 9, 2014, 2:10 PM EST) -- National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson on Wednesday warned that deep budget cuts at the Internal Revenue Service brought about by sequestration threaten the agency's ability to provide adequate taxpayer services and urged Congress to increase funding.

The call for more funding at the IRS was one of the key recommendations in Olsen's  2013 annual report to Congress. Olsen said budget cuts have left the IRS with an under-trained workforce and are severely limiting basic agency services.
