$335M Power Line Project Gets Final OK From Pa. PUC

Law360, Philadelphia (January 9, 2014, 2:28 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission on Thursday give final approval to a $335 million plan by PPL Electric Utilities Corp. to run high-voltage power lines through a 70-mile stretch of the state’s Pocono Mountains region.

The commission unanimously adopted an administrative law judge’s October opinion, which said that the proven need for the project outweighed objections from environmentalists and local officials who argued that PPL’s plan robbed municipalities of zoning control and threatened a number of high-value wilderness areas.
