Abengoa Wins $1B Contract For Solar Plant In Chile

Law360, New York (January 9, 2014, 4:32 PM EST) -- Abengoa SA on Thursday was awarded a $1 billion contract to construct a 110-megawatt solar power plant in Chile's Atacama Desert as part of the country's move toward using clean energy.

The Chilean Ministry of Energy and Corp. de Fomento de la Produccion, a Chilean government agency known as CORFO, had held an international competition to determine which company would get the rights to the Latin America's first concentrated solar power plant and announced Abengoa's Cerro Dominador project as the winner on Thursday.
