Toys R Us Asks FTC To Retool Long-Standing Antitrust Order

Law360, Los Angeles (January 9, 2014, 6:12 PM EST) -- The Federal Trade Commission said Thursday it is seeking public comments on Toys R Us Inc.'s petition to reopen and modify a 15-year-old final FTC order that was designed to curtail anti-competitive agreements with suppliers. 

In the petition, submitted to the FTC on Jan. 3, Toys R Us argues that certain restrictions imposed by the commission's order bar it from engaging in pro-competitive or competitively neutral conduct or are no longer necessary due to the emergence of strong competition from big-box retailers and online outfits.
