Ex-BP Engineer's Lawyers Slammed For Contacting Jurors

Law360, New York (January 9, 2014, 7:04 PM EST) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Thursday told lawyers involved the criminal suit against a former BP PLC engineer, who was recently convicted of obstructing a grand jury investigation into the company’s response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster, to not contact the jurors.

U.S. District Judge Stanwood Duval Jr. issued the order in response to a Jan. 2 motion by Kurt Mix’s attorneys requesting a new trial because post-trial interviews with jurors, the attorneys claimed, revealed juror misconduct.
