Medicare Contractors Lag On Some Quality Gauges, OIG Says

Law360, New York (January 10, 2014, 6:24 PM EST) -- Administrative contractors for Medicare did not meet roughly a quarter of the quality standards that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services reviewed, a considerable performance gap for a group that receives billions of dollars in awards, an inspector general report said Wednesday.

Although those contractors satisfied nearly three-quarters of the quality standards that the CMS reviewed, roughly 27 percent of the standards they had not met were not fixed by June 2012, according to the report by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services...
