Fed. Circ. Sinks Nazomi IP Claims Against Sling, Western

Law360, New York (January 10, 2014, 5:29 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Friday ruled that products manufactured by Sling Media Inc. and Western Digital Corp. do not infringe on a pair of Java programming patents held by Nazomi Corp., ruling that the products must have additional software installed in order to possibly flout the covered technology.

In a unanimous opinion, the three-judge panel upheld a district court decision that held Western Digital's MyBook storage drive and Sling's television streaming device Slingbox do not perform functions that infringe the Nazomi patents on their own....
