Obama Taps Longtime USGS Scientist As New Director

Law360, New York (January 10, 2014, 6:22 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama said Thursday that he will nominate Suzette Kimball to take over as director of the U.S. Geological Survey, a position in which she would provide scientific advice on natural resource management and climate change issues to the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Kimball has held the position as acting director since Marcia McNutt stepped down in February 2013, and prior to that, she was the deputy director of the USGS since 2010, according to the White House announcement. As director, Kimball will also serve...
