Former Christie Supreme Court Pick Gets Lower Judgeship

Law360, New York (January 13, 2014, 8:43 PM EST) -- The New Jersey Senate long refused to take up Gov. Chris Christie's nomination of a utilities regulator for the state Supreme Court, but lawmakers on Monday quickly approved that official for a lower court judgeship.

Exercising its powers of advise and consent, the state Senate in a 25-7 vote approved the nomination of state Board of Public Utilities President Robert M. Hanna to the state Superior Court. The Senate Judiciary Committee had cleared Hanna's nomination earlier in the day.
