Suntory Seals $16B Deal For Whiskey Maker Beam

Law360, New York (January 13, 2014, 1:18 PM EST) -- Japanese beverage giant Suntory Holdings Ltd. will buy Maker's Mark producer Beam Inc. in a $16 billion cash deal, it said Monday, becoming yet another Japanese company to invest in a mammoth outbound merger.

At $83.50 per share, Suntory valued Beam at a 25 percent premium over its Jan. 10 closing price of $66.97, Beam said.
