$1T Spending Bill Aims To Slash IRS Funding

Law360, New York (January 14, 2014, 1:38 PM EST) -- A $1.012 trillion spending bill published Monday by congressional negotiators includes cuts to the Internal Revenue Service budget and extra money for the watchdog agency that caught the IRS in its targeting of Tea Party groups.

The 1,582-page omnibus bill reduces the IRS budget from $12 billion in 2013 to $11.2 billion in 2014. The bill also gives the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration $156.3 million, or $6 million more than the Obama administration had requested.
