Fla. House Committee Passes Fracking Disclosure Bills

Law360, New York (January 14, 2014, 9:12 PM EST) -- Florida's House Agriculture & Natural Resources Subcommittee passed two linked bills by an 8-4 vote on Tuesday, one which requires companies to disclose the chemicals used in fracking for oil and gas and another that creates an exemption for trade secrets.

H.B. 71, the Fracturing Chemical Usage Disclosure Act, and H.B. 157, the Public Records/Hydraulic Fracturing Chemical Usage Disclosure Act — both introduced by Rep. Ray Rodrigues, R-Fort Myers — are now on their way to the Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee, followed by the State Affairs Committee.
