Attys, CFOs More Open To Litigation Finance, Survey Finds

Law360, New York (January 16, 2014, 7:41 PM EST) -- Lawyers and in-house finance executives are increasingly receptive to third-party litigation funding, according to a funder-sponsored survey released Thursday, even as a small minority indicated having employed such investor backing.

The survey sponsored by Burford Capital LLP, one of biggest players in the still-emerging U.S. commercial litigation finance industry, drew on responses from more than 430 legal and financial professionals.

It found a lion’s share of both in-house and private practice lawyers at least aware of the practice, and a significant percentage of private attorneys indicating their cases...
